    Default sooooo

you know I've said I collect antique jewellery? Well last night I bought the most stunning deco necklace with what looks like two big chrysophrase (sp?) drops, which I think might also be by meyle and mayer. Usually I end up flogging off stuff when I get skint, but this is going to be my birthday present.

I will post pictures when it arrives, but I had to post here because the dearest husband is getting sick of me going on about it.

I didn,t know much about Meyle & Mayer's work so I googled them. I also like that type of work. I sometimes get this type of work to restore. One of my old customers specializes in Lalique and Knox type goods. You may like this piece, it was the last piece I restored for him.

Yes Dennis this came to me in bits, with enamel missing from parts of the plique a-zure pieces. The customer sorted out the restringing and supplied some missing pearls.

All of the plique a-zure sections needed work and the clasp end piece was three quarters missing, so most of that is new. I was told that the clasp end section had probably been cut apart so that the makers mark could be used on something else. Quite a common thing done by unscrupulous antique dealers.

No Carole, I always use professional enamellers on business work.
