Default soldering platinum with diamonds in place

    Hello,

I have a tricky eternity ring repair, diamonds in prong sets in platinum, I have no problems with soldering gold with diamonds in place, I use oxy-acetylene and technoflux paste, and I have had no problems. But I have not tried it with platinum, has anyone done this, and have any advice?

    Thank you,

    Brendan

If you solder platinum with diamonds in place you will frost the diamonds - the temperature's too high. Your options are pull the stones or get someone with a laser (or PUK) to sort it.
Happy to laser it if you want.
