You're a true inspiration Pat <3
Welcome to the forum from me too =D
Very cute & creative =D
I'd be happy to get rid without it costing too much to do so (it's taking up a full drawer at the moment) I'm so glad this question was asked as I've not needed to deal with scrap until now, so...
Ahhh, thanks for clarifying that Peter. Seems using a weight calculator is not the way to do it =)
Wow! Lucky daughter =D
I'm interested in the answers to this one too. Got loads but no-one seems to want it unless I pay to have it made into a bar then they'll buy that from me. For the amount I've got I'd end up with...
Soldering, without a doubt. There's something I find comforting in the smell of the hot metal, I'm just weird =S
Haha, that did make me chuckle Helen =D Hope your wee one gets better soon Lydia <3
Personally if I couldn't be sure of the metal then I wouldn't do it, but offer the friend a replica pair made in silver instead
Very clever Dennis =D Turned out amazing. Best of luck with the house move Pat =D
Rofl Metalsmith =D That's an ace idea James, thanks for sharing *saves picture to computer* =)
I share those sentiments. I'd be lost without the knowledgeable folks on here for sure <3
Hehe, glad to see I'm not the only one. It would feel very naughty using glue, I'd be interested to see if someone can make something similar without using it. A new show & tell thread maybe? =D
Yikes! Think I'll wear my welders mask if the time comes for me to use one of those wheels, lol =S
:-O That sounds horrific Lydia, how on earth did you manage that? =S
Also just a side note, and I'm sorry if this sounds harsh - but never return an item to a chinese address if the item does turn out to be faulty. They will always say they never received it =(
Ages ago I purchased a Saeshin quite cheaply from a chinese seller on eBay. I suspect it is a copy (if it is it's a very good one!) I use it every single day & no problems what so ever so far =) ...
That's awesome Nick
Best of luck with it, don't forget to let us know how you get on =D
It happens to us all, even the ones with the training & degrees. Don't despair, keep at it. Can you try to re heat it & quickly pick of the bezel while the solder is wet, file everything back down...
That's not the flux I saw either, I saw the one that was used for brazing too
It's odd that most are having problems with med solder, that's the main one I turn to & it's from cooksons stock. How strange. I go through the usual process of hammering the solder strip flat,...
Sounds good, absolutely adore dichroic glass. I saw some that someone made they looked like photos from nasa - deep purples and weird bluey grey swirls, really beautiful. Really hope you do post...
Hi Ruth, is it possible that your pickle solution has accidentally become contaminated with something? Also, is it possible you might have gotten the strip of solder accidentally mixed up with silver...
