Prometheus Bronze Clay is an easy-to-use base metal clay containing fine bronze particles, along with an organic, water-based binder. This 10g syringe of Prometheus Bronze Clay is perfect for creating intricate filigree jewellery designs in bronze. For best results, use without a tip or by using the largest tip provided. Prometheus Bronze Clay can either be torch fired or fired in a kiln, with minimal shrinkage of only 6-10%. Kiln firing is recommended to achieve best results: fire at 820°C for 30 minutes. No carbon or charcoal is required to kiln fire Creative Bronze Clay, but items should be wrapped or covered in a kiln pillow during firing. Smaller Prometheus Bronze Clay designs (approximately the size and thickness of a 50p coin) can be fired with a torch. Heat the clay and wait for the binder to burn away, then heat until the piece glows a bright red colour and continue to heat for approximately 5-10 minutes. After the clay has been fired, Picklean pickling solution can be used to safely remove oxidisation, before brushing off with a brass brush. When working with Prometheus Bronze Clay, Badger Balm or olive oil can be used as a release agent to prevent clay from sticking to hands, tools or work surfaces. It is recommended that designs created with a Prometheus Bronze Clay syringe are 1.10mm thick as thinner designs are likely to break easily once fired. The syringe is approximately 0.43mm x 0.92mm in size and the syringe comes with 3 tips.
