Manufactured in the USA by Swanstrom, the high-quality dies in this Multi-Shape Disc Cutter set produce precision cut assorted stampings. This professional quality disc cutter is a fast, effective and easy way to create assorted shaped discs for your jewellery designs. An ideal batch production tool for professional designer makers, silversmiths and jewellers, the set will produce perfectly formed shapes requiring little to no finishing, and will cut soft metals such as silver, gold, brass or copper up to 20 gauge (0.81mm) thick. There are six multiple shaped dies in the set, including an oval (13mm x 18mm), rectangle (14mm x 18mm), teardrop (13mm x 18mm), square (10mm), triangle (11.10mm x 10.30mm) and heart (10mm). All parts are made of hardened and tempered, shock-resistant tool steel with precision-ground surfaces. The spring-loaded die plate allows you to easily open and close according to the thickness of the metal being punched. To use the Swanstrom Special Multi-Shape Disc Cutter Set, use the supplied Allen key to separate the plates. Insert your metal underneath the desired sized hole before re-tightening the plates. Place your chosen die in the hole and strike firmly with a hammer - thicker gauge metals will often need more than one strike. Your shaped disc will come out of the bottom of the disc cutter, ready to use in your jewellery designs. To keep your disc cutter in good condition, use a lubricant such as Burr Life (998 021) when not in use and, when working, operate the cutter on a rubber block such as (999 7151). For perfectly perpendicular results when cutting small pieces of metal, insert a thin layer of base metal of the same thickness as the metal to be cut into the opposite side of the cutter.
