The Little Torch is a miniature welding torch which can be fuelled by Butane, Acetylene, Hydrogen, Natural Gas or Propane. The torch can be used in difficult to reach areas and areas which are often impossible to reach with a conventional torch. Using your choice of gas supply and an oxygen supply, the torch produces a thread-thin flame which is stable and perfectly controlled. The flame reaches temperatures hot enough to melt metals, glass and ceramics and is controlled with two adjustable control valves on the torch body. This torch kit also includes five curved torch tips of varying sizes (0.28mm, 0.51mm, 0.74mm, 0.94mm and 1.20mm diameters) and two 182cm colour coded fuel and oxygen lines with pre-fitted 3/8" valves. The Little Torch will weld, braze, solder and heat a range of materials and is perfect for small, delicate and intricate jewellery making jobs. The maximum temperature of the Little Torch depends on the fuel used. Acetylene: 3260-3482C, Butane: 2757C, Hydrogen: 2676C, Natural Gas: 2537C, Propane: 2637C. We would highly recommend the use of flashback arrestors with this product (999 Z012 and 999 Z013), as well as an oxygen regulator (999 Z014) and a propane regulator when used with propane gas (999 Z015).

A brilliant little torch that is very powerful and because of the size of the tips is very precise and controllable. It takes a little while to initially get all the pressures and settings sorted but I’m already impressed with it. My only negative comment is that one of the valve handles is a little sharp on the fingers.

I bought my little torch along with the oxygen concentrator and I love it. I’m using tip #4 for general gold soldering and #5 and #6 for my silver. I’ve done lots of research on YouTube on how to use the little torch and once you get to know your flames you can do a lot with this torch. It has been a lovely upgrade, Christmas present to myself :-), from my long and loyal Sievert.

I haven't used it yet, but have researched this torch and read reviews and comment's on Cooksons forum. So I'm really looking forward to using it. It's exciting finally having it, and knowing there's nothing to worry about, as it's from very reputable suppliers with great customer service, with knowledgeable jewellery makers able to, who are able to help and advise, if any problems arise, or I have questions about it

Great bit of kit to have in your tool box. Took some time to get the mixture right and once this was resolved all worked as expected. Have also purchased flash arrestors and to save money in the long term an oxygen generator instead of oxygen bottles.

I too have bought an oxygen concentrator from tuffnells glass to use with my little torch and on first trying it with propane I couldn't make the small nozzle on the torch work, I have found that with moving my concentrator and propane bottle inside though separated for safety with the gas warmer, it works perfectly well, it makes a huge difference to the operation of all of the nozzles, increasing the flame size and the temperature of them all. I hope this helps for what is a brilliant little torch.

This is pricey but worth every penny, I can now use my ingot mould to cast silver in no time at all. I bought an oxygen concentrator from Tuffnells glass again pricey but no oxygen bottles needed. Now use far less propane for every job as much hotter torch and it is so light to hold and use. The smallest tip is for acetylene not butane and having tried it with propane it just blows out. I had my ingot mould for 3 years but couldn't get the old torch hot enough to cast anything now have casted round wire in the largest and smallest sizes first time. Great

If you are looking to upgrade to a gas and oxygen torch then you cant go far wrong with this model. Firstly, its a huge seller all over the world. The Smiths Little Torch is well established and respected. It also has a full range of nozzles for every task as well as great support and spare parts available. So once you buy it, you will have it for life.Despite its small size the range of nozzles means you can have a tiny precise flame from under one inch up to several inches, for melting and casting. There is even an optional casting nozzle capable of melting 3 Oz of silver. The fine nozzle tips are actually made from tiny sapphires, drilled with lasers. The finest being so small, that the hole cant be seen with the naked eye. So this really is a precision instrument.Dont forget that if you are new to gas and oxygen then you will need to get gas propane or butane tank, Oxygen tank, 2 appropriate regulators and 2 flashback arrestors. So initial set-up can cost a bit, but its a one off investment. The due to the fine nozzles the Smiths Little Torch uses hardly any gas and so its extremely economical once set up.Quick and easy to use, the nozzles can be changed without any tools. The flame can be controlled by smooth action form the valves. The torch is well made and comfortable to use. A great quality buy, well worth it.
