This board is excellent for soldering on. I have had badly shattered hands, so I use the holes to secure items in place with binding wire. I just fold the end of a piece of wire into a hole and bend it around the item I want to hold in place. This allows me to be place items accuratly for soldering that I would otherwise have great difficulty with.
