The quartz family is one of the most commonly occurring minerals found all over the world and is used extensively in jewellery making, especially for imitating other stones which appear in varying forms and colours. We stock rose quartz, and smokey quartz. The rose quartz is a beautiful faint rose pink, whilst the gemstones can vary from a transparent to translucent colour. A truly transparent rose is a very rare and sought after stone. The smokey quartz occurs in a dusky brown which can vary in hue. The colour of each quartz stone is caused by the aluminium impurity within its chemical structure. Favoured as a healing stone, the smokey quartz was used by the shamanistic practitioners around the world for thousands of years. Historically the rose quartz has been recognised as the “love stone” or the “heart stone” all over the world – a stone of sensuality used for casting spells and falling in love. Quartz jewellery adornments were quite ornate in design; it is the stone for creating jewellery with depth and originality. The smokey quartz is known as a grounding stone, neutralising negativity, relieving stress and anxiety and promoting calm and inner wisdom. We currently stock quartz in a wide variety of shapes including cabochon, gemstone beads, octagonal, round and oval which are available in sizes ranging from 3mm to 18mm, and in brown pink and yellow.
